The interwoven, overlapping flora of the bush above this calm river creates a place for contemplation. Rich pthalo green, olive, teal, and turquoise intermingle with blush and apricot to make a tranquil yet energised scene, just after the sun has dipped below the horizon.
Crowther's memories of times on the Hawkesbury River are translated through her signature brushstrokes, evoking a sense of quiet magic. Time spent in nature is the main theme in Naomi's work, exploring the positive effects of the natural world on the human condition.
This artwork would become a statement piece, perfect to fill that tricky blank wall with vibrancy, texture and joy. One of a kind art you won't find for sale anywhere else.

'Oyster Farmer's Daughter ' by Naomi Crowther is a hauntingly beautiful artwork of an oyster farmer's daughter gazing out to sea with a French martini in hand, wondering what’s beyond her shore. When she does find out, her upbringing will always remain magically within her, for the oysters are in her blood, her dress, her hair. They are part of her very being. Naomi's painterly brushstrokes convey a warm energy to this mesmerising piece. This art print onto canvas captures the earthiness of the pops of bare linen, from the original, adding to mix of the textures. The high quality printing makes the thick impasto paint look 3D, making the viewer want to come up close. Naomi Crowther's studio is on the Far South Coast of NSW, and she takes cues from local oyster farms as inspiration for this artwork.

‘Childhood weekends spent messing about along tidal waterways made me a true oyster lover. My brother and I would adventure for hours along the waterways, always with a knife and bush lemon in our pockets. When we felt hungry we'd open oysters straight off the rocks and use the lids to scoop them out. I'll always savour that creamy, fresh sea water taste.' - Naomi.

‘What’s Past is Prologue’ was the brief given to me as one of 10 artists selected for a group show at the Basil Sellers Exhibition Centre, opening May 17th 2025 in Moruya, NSW, Australia.
I made a monotype of the seaweed in the bottom section, then added abstract bushland and cliffs in acrylic paint. The strip of copper leaf signifies the different realms, above and below the surface. There is so much going on underneath which you’re acutely aware of when you dive under and start exploring. It seems to just bring everything into perspective.
In the 1980 and 1990s we lost our seaweed. Around 70km of the Sydney coastline was denuded of Crayweed, where crayfish and abalone hide. Slowly but surely with a lot of hard work, it is being replanted. We no longer pump raw sewage into our ocean outfalls, and the seaweed is growing. Are we learning from our mistakes?
The beach where I swim and collect my seaweed is only 500m from a treated ocean outfall. It is abundant with life, and seeps into my arts practice on a deep level.

Artist Statement: Every painting tells a story, this painting explores the carefree sway of invisible energy between living things who have a familiarity or have gone through something together. It's also about celebrating the circle of life at every stage. The lotus often conjures up thoughts of a perfectly symmetrical image of a flower in its prime, but in reality the different stages of life are just as important, and sometimes even more memorable., which is why I paint the stages of the flowers, leaves and pods, some bending over after spreading their seeds, some reaching to the sun. Some of my happiest moments have been the super relaxed times during recovery parties.'
Important to note: ‘Lotus Recovery Party' is painted on the sides so if stretched without an exterior frame it will still look finished from any angle. The work is sent unstretched (taken into account in the price) in a roll ready for stretching and or framing. It is much safer for work to travel in a roll and then be delivered to you or directly to the framer. If you select stretching and framing (Bluethumb makes this both super easy and streamlined) I suggest the natural oak frame.
FRAMING options: visit the Bluethumb listing HERE to buy, with the added option of stretching and/or framing, otherwise it comes rolled ready for you to take to your framer.
'Lotus Recovery Party' is a contemporary, gestural fine art abstract, and forms part of Naomi's new 'Lotus Garden' collection. Soothing moss and olive greens, vibrant ochre, golden toffee and mocha hues plus a dash of granite blue make up the colour palette, surrounded by heavily textured, calming white. Naomi's sweeping brushstrokes and calligraphic freehand marks urge the viewer to lean in close.
Naomi Crowther's studio is on the Far South Coast of NSW, and she takes cues from a local private lotus garden as inspiration for this artwork.
Full signature will be painted on the front once purchased, I will reach out in case you want it hung vertically, before I sign it, as it can be hung either way.

Acrylic and Copper Leaf on Stretched Canvas
This painting is a celebration of quiet, evergreen love. Inspired by the lush greenery and white blooms in her garden, Naomi has mixed soft sage and olive greens with coffee, panna cotta and crisp, pure white blooms. The fresh, bright white flowers contrast against mocha and light grey drips, with delicate details of fern fronds in white and silver.

'It’s a uniquely Australian sound, the screech of the black cockatoo. They’ve been calling out from the towering gums behind the creek, near my house, heralding rain, and hopefully there’s more on the way.'
'Black Cockatoos Homeward Bound' is inspired by the afterglow on the inlet not far from Naomi's home and studio on the Far Sth Coast of NSW. The abstract white flannel flowers are quite textured, and contract against ochre coloured Australian gum trees. Three yellow tailed black cockatoos swoop down low on their way home to roost in the hollows of spotted gums. This bold and intrinsically Australian painting is a one-off fine art abstract, and blends Naomi's bushland and botanicals series.
