'Cockatoos above Grandfather's Gully' 183cmx92cm
183cm x 92cm x 3.8cm
'Sulphur Crested Cockatoos above the Gully' is inspired by a misty morning in the coastal bushland not far from Naomi's home and studio on the Far Sth Coast of NSW. The abstract flowers are heavily textured, they contract against sap green, olive and sage of the gum trees. Six sulphur crested cockatoos glide along on thermal current, off to feed high up in the flowering eucalypts. This bold and intrinsically Australian painting is a one-off fine art abstract, and blends Naomi's bushland and botanicals series.
‘When I walk through bushland taking photos of flannel flowers, their yellow flashes are seen high up in the spotted gums.' - Naomi

'It’s a uniquely Australian sight, the bright white feathers highlighted with yellow, and that distinctive call and squawk, of the sulphur crested cockatoo. They occasionally visit my garden, causing a mighty ruckus then fly off screeching into the sky.’ - Naomi
